BASQUE identifies Navy personnel who demonstrate proficiency in the Basque language for assignments requiring communication with Basque speaking communities and review of Basque source material. The qualification supports interpretation, translation, cultural understanding, and intelligence or operational reporting in northern Spain and southwestern France.
